During my time on the Paediatric wards at University College London Hospital, I was awarded a Greatix for my contribution to the team/ward. I felt very privileged to be singled out for my efforts to engage patients in physical activity as well as for being a positive and energetic.
The Greatix model is a superb way of acknowledging good practise and on a personal note makes you feel recognised and appreciated.
I volunteered for the Samaritans to use my sports massage qualification to help some needy runners relax and cool down after a long run. The day was busy and hard on the hands but totally rewarding. I felt I really developed my technique and got to hear some really moving stories behind why people had chosen to run the marathon. I will definitely be keen to volunteer again at future events! (But first, I need to run one and so I am starting my training for the Paris marathon 2025!)
Junior Physiotherapist (Paediatrics)
My first role as a therapist saw me working in outpatients as an MSK children's therapist. As part of this I helped carry out a weekly Pilates class. We recieved some lovely feedback from participants, like this card which was sent by one of the children.
Jan - Feb 2023. Outpatient MSK Services, St Mark's Hospital.
As part of my final placement, I delivered a presentation to my educator and their team detailing a case study. I choose to talk about a patient who presenting condition was lower back pain. The patient had been given some misinformation around management and prognosis so treatment revolved around reassurance and education. I reflected on my knowledge gap and so talked about my further reading on lower back pain and morphological abnormality found on investigation the patient had been told about. See the presentation for further details.

Scan of an email sent to my educator. Very encouraging to know I was having an impact and explaining clearly. This is something I struggled with a bit in MSK as everything felt so new and it was a challenge to explain this is a succinct, reassuring but vitally an understandable way.
Oct - Dec 2022. Oxford Centre for Enablement, Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospital.
I gave a presentation to the neuro PT team about the use of partial bodyweight supported treadmill training following spinal cord injury. The presentation helped with my confidence delivering to an audience and reflecting on what is 'evidence-based practise' and how we deliver it. To the left are some feedback points I was kindly given by the team.

Scan of a letter typed by a patient at my fourth placement. This was incredibly thoughtful, particularly as I did not work closely with this patient. They clearly enjoyed our sessions and especially my creativeness with the exercises & random conversation! Neuro really gives you the time and space to get creative and really tailor!!
Apr - Jun 2022. National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
Scan of a card given to me by a patient I treated on my second placement at Stoke Mandeville's spinal injury centre. It was really touching to recieve this as I was so worried most of the time that I wasn't doing the best for the patient. Their card showed me that I was doing better than I believed and they appreciated all that I did for them.
As a Brookes Physiotherapy committee member, I was able to share in the success of being awarded "Best Series of Events" for our work organising guest speakers to talk to our society members. This included physiotherapists who had specialised in burns, a First Contact Practitioner, and pelvic health. As the CPD lead for the committee, I felt particularly honoured by this award as my hard work, organising these events, was acknowledged and rewarded.
2019
I undertook several observation days to prepare for applying for my degree. This helped confirm that I was pursuing the right career for me and demonstrating a large array of areas physiotherapists work in!
